Red Dead Redemption 2 players can now pick up a new fan-made add-on for the game which adds 48 new horses to the story mode.
Rockstar Games may be fully locked-in on Grand Theft Auto VIâs launch that new content for Red Dead Redemption 2 feels like a dream of the past, but this is where the community has stepped in.
Some Red Dead Redemption 2 mods in particular are adding content from Red Dead Online into the story mode, further fleshing out whatâs available for you to see when playing offline.
The latest mod to do this is Online Horses in Singleplayer, a new mod by Nexus Mods user somncoitus which does exactly as you might expect by adding new horses to the singleplayer which are not normally available.

In Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode, there are 19 horses available for you to purchase, while there are many more you can get in Red Dead Online. 48 more, to be exact.
Online Horses in Singleplayer simply adds these new horses to the pool of horses you can purchase from stables, allowing you to browse, preview, purchase, name, store and manage them in the same way you can with the horses available in the base game.
One common bug with trying to exploit this in the base game is that if you try to own a horse from Red Dead Online in the singleplayer mode, the game doesnât register this as a possible horse you can own, and will instead convert it into a Tennessee Walker after you close and reopen the game.
However, the mod does away with this restriction, so you can own any horse from Red Dead Online that you want to, and wonât have to worry about any glitches preventing you from owning it.

48 new horse breeds come to Red Dead Redemption 2 singleplayer
The new horses are spread across different horse breeds. These are the breeds included in the mod:
- Appaloosa
- Arabian
- Breton
- Criollo
- Gypsy Cob
- Hungarian Halfbred
- Kladruber
- Missouri Fox Trotter
- Mustang
- Norfolk Roadster
- Thoroughbred
- Turkoman
Each of these breeds also support coats from Red Dead Online, which means story mode now has a much larger selection of horses without necessarily replacing breeds from singleplayer.
The mod also makes a few other changes, such as adjusting the prices of these horses. Each one has its own default price, but this can also be changed with higher-end horses which generally cost more.
If youâd like to rebalance the shop though, you can do so by changing OnlineHorses.ini, which allows you to set the price of any horse, or even change them to 0 if youâd rather make it free.
Be aware that there is a small issue present in the game with this mod though. When you bring an online breed to a stable, labels for their breed or coat may be empty due to the horses not being added to the catalog system.
This is simply a visual glitch, and doesnât have any bearing on the modâs functionality or regular gameplay, so you donât need to be worried about it.
If youâd like to check out Online Horses in Singleplayer, you can pick up the mod now for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 from Nexus Mods.
