If there’s one thing Red Dead Redemption 2 is known for, it’s the insane amount of detail that the developers chose to put into every corner of the Wild West world they created and released back in 2018.

At the same time, Rockstar’s other flagship franchise, Grand Theft Auto, is also no stranger to including fun little details and riddles for players to uncover. The most notable of these is undoubtedly the Mount Chiliad mystery, which fans have spent years trying to unravel.

Given the age of both of these games, you could be forgiven for thinking that everything there is to find has already been discovered. However, recent revelations in Red Dead Redemption 2 prove that this absolutely isn’t the case just yet.

A strange secret involving spider webs in the game was uncovered in recent weeks, and players have now found a fascinating connection to the aforementioned Mount Chiliad.

As first reported by Gameranx, a highly respected Grand Theft Auto data miner may have uncovered new connections between the two games, specifically linking the so-called spider mystery to Mount Chiliad.

If you’re not familiar with the spider web mystery, it’s essentially a complex series of locations where webs can be found either on telephone poles or street lights, leading players in multiple directions as they attempt to determine what these discoveries are ultimately signposting.

What’s particularly interesting is that these spider webs have once again begun appearing at specific points during the day, although exactly how long this behaviour has been occurring remains unclear. The fact that something very similar is happening in Grand Theft Auto V is notable in itself, but even more intriguingly, all of the spider webs discovered so far in that game appear in and around Mount Chiliad, which is famously one of its most mysterious locations.

These locations also line up remarkably well with the Mount Chiliad mural, a puzzle that players have been attempting to decode for well over a decade now. While new discoveries are being made all the time, we’re still not particularly close to fully understanding what these spider webs actually mean.

That said, there’s plenty of hype surrounding the mystery right now, and many players are actively working together to uncover its secrets.

Fingers crossed they manage to solve it all before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI inevitably adds even more layers.
