A Formula 2 driver has been dropped by Oracle Red Bull Racing after the 21-year-old used a racial slur during a Call of Duty: Warzone Twitch stream.
Juri Vips was under contract with Oracle Red Bull Racing, the same team that manages Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, but after an internal investigation, it was announced that Vips’ test and reserve driver program contract was to be terminated.

The slur came during a livestream with fellow Formula 2 driver Liam Lawson. In the viral clip, Vips appeared to use the N-word. Lawson then seemed to call Vips’ attention to what he’d just said and the duo laughed it off and continued playing Warzone.
Later in the stream, another clip appeared to show Vips being homophobic. The professional racing driver was handed a pink cap which he seemingly refused to put on because it was “gay,” with Lawson once again reminding Vips, “Juri, you can’t say that.”
After the clips garnered attention online, Juri put out a statement saying, “I wish to unreservedly apologise for the offensive language used during a live gaming stream earlier today. This language is entirely unacceptable and does not portray the values and principles that I hold. I deeply regret my actions and this is not the example I wish to set. I will cooperate with the investigation fully.”
Oracle Red Bull Racing’s investigation has now come to an end with the team confirming that, “Following its investigation into an online incident involving Juri Vips, Oracle Red Bull Racing has terminated Juri’s contract as its test and reserve driver. The team do not condone any form of racism.” At the time of writing, Liam Lawson has yet to comment on the incident.
