Most of us have played or encountered Pokémon at some point in our lives. Whether you’re a Pokémon master or the only Pokémon you can name is Pikachu, there’s no denying that the franchise has become somewhat of a pop culture phenomenon.
That being said, you’d think by now that fans would know 1996’s Pokémon Red and Blue inside out but alas, one major feature has remained a secret to some players even to this day. Released for the Game Boy, Pokémon Red and Blue kicked off the franchise by offering us all that iconic choice: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Charmander. Not that anyone asked, but it was Bulbasaur for me.

Reddit user Jedi_Lucky1 recently discovered that Pokémon Red and Blue players could reorder a Pokémon’s moves within the slots provided. The user uploaded a video to Reddit showing fellow players how to do so using the Game Boy’s ‘Select’ button and needless to say, thousands shared in his astonishment.
To my Pokémon Masters, I’m sure you’ve had this handy trick up your sleeve since the 90s so you’ll have to forgive us mere mortals. The feature was detailed and included in the game’s instruction manual, but I can’t say that I have ever read a manual. I’m sure I’m not alone in going for the trial and error approach.
It’s not the most revolutionary of features, instead simply allowing you to reorder moves to suit your personal usage preferences. Regardless, players seem pretty happy about the discovery. User mrmurvi said “Can you just tell me this 20 years earlier pls next time,” whilst Dawanna commented, “So many days I lost because I spammed through the menus and used the wrong attack.” Well, grab your Game Boys folks and get reordering.
