Pokémon Players Rejoice Over New Pokémon Legends: Z-A Reveal

You could say everyone's "Mega" excited

The next big step in the Pokémon series is coming in October and Pokémon Legends Z-A looks like it could be one of the more exciting leaps forward in recent times, particularly based off the information available to the public right now.

Developer Game Freak has been slowly revealing the new Mega Evolutions in the run-up to the game's release and there have been some very cool choices to look forward to.

Though everyone wasn't blown away by the new visuals, Mega Dragonite looks like it could be an absolute beast and arguably one of the most powerful we've seen in any game so far, considering its usual base stats.

Joining the party was Mega Victreebel who, whilst admittedly less exciting than the Dragonite, also looks like a powerful prospect.

The latest announcement, though, is the most exciting of the bunch and one of the coolest designs we've seen in any Mega Evolution to date.

Making its wrestling-esque debut in Z-A, Mega Hawlucha is comfortably the best design we've seen in recent years, with a very different colouration and some nice areas of detailing that elevate the 'mon significantly.

It also had one of the coolest announcement videos you're ever likely to see, as the brave bird takes on a particularly chunky Machamp in the ring. After getting what can only be described as a bit of a beatdown, Hawlucha manages to get back to its feet, before mega evolving for the first time. From there, it's not even a contest, as the bird beats out its bemuscled foe with ease to claim the crown.

Over on Reddit, fans were predictably delighted, with many sharing their thoughts on the announcement.

"He looks majestic! Hope he's even faster than his already fast base form and has a great ability to boot," one said.

"As a wrestling fan, and Hawlucha being based on wrestling, I love that the mega is just a costume change but supposedly gives a new power. Very much a Mick Foley transforming from Mankind to Cactus Jack, Finn Balor changing to the demon, or even Kurt Angle taking the straps down to pick up the intensity vibes," another added.

Pokémon Legends Z-A is set to release on 12 October, so you won't have too long to wait before you can give this big bad bird a try.
