The Pokémon Company has had years of future plans leaked ahead of official reveals, giving us our first look at Gen 10.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the next game in the series, coming to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 later this month. Unfortunately, the game’s source code leaked, so many are playing it early via emulation. Not ideal.
Making matters worse is an enormous leak of new information regarding the next mainline games, some details on the upcoming spin-off Pokémon Pokopia, and other massive projects.
The next game in the series is the important leak though, as it’s believed to be titled Pokémon Wind & Waves, and will apparently be the biggest jump in quality the series has had since the games went from the Nintendo DS to the Nintendo 3DS.

Leaked images show the player’s character on luscious islands teeming with life, with excellent lighting and well-made models/assets. Now there’s every chance they’re concept images rather than actual gameplay but leakers say otherwise.
This leads us to the main gimmick of the new games, the open-world. Obviously open-worlds aren’t anything new to Pokémon by this point but Pokémon Wind & Waves is apparently going a step beyond anything we’ve seen before.
The region we’ll apparently be exploring is based on Southeast Asia and will consist of several islands each with their own ‘mon and things to do. It’s even been said that the islands will be procedurally generated which is interesting. In addition to the islands themselves, players will also be able to explore the oceans, doing a bit of deep-sea diving to catch ‘mon that live beneath the ocean depths.
Pokémon Wind & Waves is said to be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, making full-use of the hardware to deliver a better overall gameplay experience, one that exceeds anything we’ve seen prior.

It’s about damn time, as despite its popularity, the Pokémon series has been yearning for a graphical upgrade. We haven’t been asking for Red Dead Redemption 2 or Ghost Of Yōtei visuals, just something a little bit prettier.
Pokémon Wind & Waves seems to be just that, but as always take these leaks with a pinch of salt, as plans could have changed, and they might still change depending on how The Pokémon Company decides to deal with this information getting out.
