PlayStation's latest free download is huge, no PS Plus required

PlayStation users can grab a bunch of free DLC for Sackboy: A Big Adventure - which happens to be included in this month's PS Plus line-up.

Well, this is joyous news. The PlayStation Store is hiding a great freebie that can be enjoyed by anyone. I’ll admit, it’s a pretty timely discovery if you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber but that’s not a requirement.

Allow me to quickly explain why this may be of interest to you PlayStation Plus folk. The subscription service’s April essential tier line-up was recently unveiled and it includes Sackboy: A Big Adventure, day one release Meet Your Maker, and Tails of Iron. You can download these titles from tomorrow (4 April) so if you haven’t yet grabbed Battlefield 2042, Minecraft Dungeons, or Code Vein and you’d like to, you have until the end of the day to do so. Back to the point though, the free download concerns Sackboy: A Big Adventure so if you’re a PS Plus subscriber, you’ll have fresh access to this title but the download can also be enjoyed by those who simply already own the game.

PlayStation Plus’ Tchia is already one of my favourite games of the year. Take a look at the trailer below.

Reddit user kabirsingh84 pointed out that the PlayStation Store has a total of 48 free Sackboy: A Big Adventure DLC add-ons. These are essentially skins of popular PlayStation characters. They wrote, “Sackboy: A Big Adventure has a whole bunch of free costume add-ons on the store. These include popular characters like Kratos, Ellie, Aloy, Ratchet and many more. Go to Sackboy and scroll down to Add-Ons on the store for a total of 48 free add-ons.” There’s also Nate, Sylens, a Fall Guy, and Abby - just to name a few extras.

There’s no time limit on the availability of these. It’s a fun way to personalise Sackboy: A Big Adventure. As a The Last of Us stan, you best bet that I’ll be downloading lil’ Abby to use. Needless to say, PlayStation users were happy to have made the discovery. Poklane wrote, “Props to Sony for making these free, while plenty of other publishers would no doubt charge like $2.99 a pack.”

ShaneTVZ added, “Nice. Thanks for the heads up. I’m gonna download these and get them ready for Tuesday when Sackboy goes free,” while arcadiangenesis said, “I check the add-ons every month and there’s always a couple new ones every time. They release new ones every time a big first-party PlayStation game releases and every major holiday.” Oo, nice tip. Keep an eye out for more, everyone.
