PlayStation trophy hunters are petitioning to remove multiplayer trophies required to earn the prestigious Platinum.
Whether we play games on consoles or PC, earning that trophy is a comforting feeling. Especially for those that are hard-earned. However, some of those trophies can be damn near impossible to earn, in particular, those attached to multiplayer activities.
Take, for example, an online-focused title such as Friday the 13th: The Game. The online servers for this game were shut down in November 2020. While Friday the 13th is still technically playable online through peer-to-peer matchmaking, the process of not only getting into a game but also finding people to play with makes trophy hunting a gruelling task.

Then you might have trophies that simply require you to play or win a certain number of multiplayer games for a variety of titles. However, most will require an excessive grind to which some might not have enough hours in the day to dedicate their time.
Worse still, what about trophies that are attached to multiplayer-related DLC? You may have finished the base game, but then DLC drops out of nowhere with a batch of new hunting accolades. This DLC might be of no interest to you. However, if you’re a dedicated trophy hunter, you’re going to miss out on that elusive trophy.
So, with that in mind, as reported by PlayStation LifeStyle, some passionate trophy hunters are petitioning for PS5 and PS4 multiplayer-related trophies to be dropped forever.
Furthermore, those passionate trophy hunters have been discussing the pesky multiplayer-related accolades on Reddit which can lock them out from earning the Platinum ping.

What’s more, as mentioned earlier, not only will some trophies be locked behind a DLC purchase, but those that are online only will essentially be locked behind a PS Plus subscription paywall.
So to fight the good fight, a petition via Change.org is making the rounds and at the time of writing, it has garnered 3,000 signatures. “Of course, multiplayer games like COD and Battlefield will always have multiplayer trophies,” reads a line from the petition.
“However, in games that are mostly offline oriented like The Last of Us or Uncharted 4, multiplayer trophies should exist but in a parallel way where it doesn't affect the platinum trophy.” To be fair, that’s a very fair point.
Sadly, no matter how valid some of those points are being made, it’s unlikely to gain the interest of Sony and multiplayer-related trophies won't be going away anytime soon.
