Fans everywhere are clearly very excited for the PlayStation 5 to finally land, but there have been some concerns over the next-gen hardware's all-white colour scheme. The console itself was mercilessly ripped apart on the internet when it was first unveiled, as was the DualSense controller.
While I personally wouldn't kick the standard white PS5 out of bed, I have more of an issue with the white DualSense controller. That thing is going to be in my hands for a lot of time, and I worry that the white colour scheme will lead to it getting pretty grubby-looking remarkably quickly.
The good news is that Sony will be sharing more details on alternative DualSense colour schemes in the new future, if you're also worried that the white isn't the right move for you. Speaking with Geoff Keighley during a recent DualSense hands-on demo session, PlayStation head of worldwide marketing and consumer experience Eric Lempel explained that more options are on the way. We just have to be patient.

A number of industrious fans have already been hard at work creating some gorgeous PS5 console and DualSense controller mockups. We've already seen models inspired by Spider-Man: Miles Morales, God Of War, and Horizon Forbidden West... as well as a gorgeous all-black design that I'm particularly fond of and would 100% buy if Sony actually gave me the option.
Lempel's tease echoes one shared by PlayStation's vice-president of UX design Matt MacLaurin last month. MacLaurin took to LinkedIn to tease special edition consoles - and by extension controllers. After speaking a little bit about the next-gen machine's completely overhauled UI, he explained that we "can count on even more beautiful (and hopefully radical) special editions" beyond the standard white edition.
While we wait for official news of limited-edition builds, you can head over to the dbrand site to put together your very own next-gen Sony console with custom wraps. Even if you have no intention of ordering the wraps you look at, the site has a pretty fun tool that lets you build and visualise a custom PS5 and DualSense controller using different colours and materials.

You can make some absolute horror shows on there - and I did. Conversely, you can also make some pretty awesome-looking PS5 models, so be sure to check it out if you're worried Sony isn't going to officially release the colour scheme you're dreaming of.
