It's apparently being developed by the studio that assisted with Horizon Zero Dawn.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is apparently being remade along with remasters of a number of the original entries into the series.

The report from Video Games Chronicle claims that, though Konami's pachinko, slot and arcade machines have been its focus for a while now, it's aiming to renew some of its most significant contributions to the gaming industry. So, it transpires that there's a "reimagining" of Castlevania in the works with Konami and it's given developer Virtuos the reins to a remake of one of the Metal Gear Solid games.

Rumours that Metal Gear Solid would return on the zippy PlayStation 5 have been running rampant for some time now. While this could be through the power of wishful thinking, it's Konami's recent restructuring of its game development divisions that VGC cites as the driving force of these revivals of Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid.

Take a look at this fan remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 using Unreal Engine to recreate one of the most iconic moments in the series!

The report continues to state that the prevailing theory is that it'll be Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater that's getting a proper remake owing to its popularity. Moreover, there may be remasters of the original Metal Gear Solid games to come before the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.

If this is verifiable, then the remake is in adept hands. Virtuos primarily concerns itself with co-development of games to be re-released for other platforms, as well as offering art and content to titles like Battlefield 1, Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn, and has worked with a huge number of the most lucrative digital entertainment companies in the world.

And, because it's Konami and because I know you've gone CTRL+F to find this, VGC also alleges that multiple Silent Hill games are in the works having been bestowed to external development studios. While it used to be pretty protective of its IPs, the continued success of its pachinko business and the failure of Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps has caused it to change its tune.

Naturally, without any official statement from Konami nor the studios supposedly involved, it's advisable to take this with a pinch of salt. However, VGC has been bang on about the destruction of Verdansk in Warzone. So, we'll have to watch this space.
