The weekend just got a whole lot more exciting thanks to Xbox dropping two free games.

Another working week is almost over, and with it comes the chance to unwind and play a game or two.

Almost as if it sensed our desire to play something new, or at the very least something that won’t cost us anything, Microsoft has announced its Free Play Days selection.

The two titles available from now until 6 October are markedly different in the kind of gameplay they deliver; one is a rogue-lite, turn based experience, while the other is "true to form” experience for Tennis lovers.

Not long until Metaphor: ReFantazio launches... we can't wait!

We think you’ll agree they’re in stark contrast to one another.

Yet, in being so different they allow a greater number of Xbox players to find something of value in what they offer. Beyond the main selling point that Free Play Days allow you to game for free.

The Land Beneath Us launched earlier this year on 13 May. Although unlucky for some, launching on the 13th day of the month hasn’t hindered this game’s success.

Reviewed positively on Steam, it’s a “unique and interesting” adventure that “deserves more recognition”.

Matchpoint - Tennis Championships doesn’t have quite as many ringing endorsements on its Steam page, though neither is it short of positive reviews.

Its “tactical realism” is arguably what allows the game to “grow with you” as you progress. Consequently, some fans argue it delivers a “fantastic” experience.

Provided you’re an Xbox Game Pass Core, Standard, or Premium subscriber, you’ll be able to sample these games for free.

This event has already begun, so you can get started (or not) whenever the mood takes us.

We can’t promise you’ll finish the playthroughs for each game within the timeframe permitted, however, it’s definitely feasible.

On that note, good luck and enjoy!
