As is the case every weekend, Xbox has launched its latest edition of Free Play Days.
The weekly event allows Xbox users to sample an array of free games for the duration of the weekend.
Typically, there are offerings for both Xbox Game Pass subscribers as well as all Xbox users but, unfortunately, this week’s line-up is aimed at those with a Game Pass subscription only.
There are two games that all Xbox Game Pass users can enjoy from now until the end of the day on Sunday 10 May, regardless of whether you’re subscribed to Ultimate, Premium or Essential.

As always, you’ll have to purchase the two titles if you want to continue playing past Sunday, but there’s no limit on how far you can progress before then.
Both titles are, handily, excellent if you’re low on time.
Catan - Console Edition is an adaptation of the very popular board game of the same name in which players will build thriving settlements in a bid to outdo opponents.
You’ll need to acquire resources, come up with inventive strategies, and expand your empire if you want to come out on top.
“Charmed by opportunity and the promise of faraway riches, you and a collection of like-minded adventurers abandon your homeland and livelihoods to discover new lands,” the synopsis teases.
“After a long and arduous journey, fraught with danger and difficulty, you arrive at the shores of a lush land, untouched by humanity, and abundant in resources.
“But you are not the first to set foot on this new island, there are others who are looking to thrive - and survive. Welcome to CATAN!”

You can play both solo against AI or with friends with progression leading to the unlocking of in-game rewards.
A single game of Catan - Console Edition should last just 30 to 60 minutes, so it’s the perfect game to play in short doses. Let’s be honest, who has free time these days?
The game will set you back $16.99 if you do wish to keep playing. Pricing will vary regionally.
If you fancy something slightly more fast-paced, then you may enjoy “open world survival shooter” Deadside which offers both PvP and PvE modes.
It’s not the most revolutionary formula.
Players will enter the open-world where they’ll need to build a base, secure loot and valuable gear, and avoid or raid enemies.
There are a wide array of vehicles that’ll help you traverse the open-world, including boats, motorcycles, and cars - plus you can secure your vehicles with codelocks to use them for storage.

Bases can vary from simple secluded shacks to extensive fortresses. It’s up to you how much effort you put in.
I’d argue it’s a good survival shooter for those unwilling to commit to something time-consuming.
You see, it’s hard to escape offline raiding in survival shooters where your creations are plundered while you’re not playing.
This problem is by no means absent in Deadside, but I’d say it’s not quite as bad as DayZ or Rust.
The game does have official PvP servers with scheduled raid times to cater to such issues, although devs probably could do more to rectify this problem.
You can pick up Deadside for $12.49 if you wish to keep playing past the end of Free Play Days. Correct at the time of writing.
