The Xbox Series X/S has a hidden Halo easter egg that we probably all missed, but we’ll show you where to find this sneaky little Master Chief today.
Each console brand has its most recognisable mascot. For Nintendo, it’s Super Mario, for PlayStation, it’s probably Kratos, and for SEGA (RIP), it’s Sonic the Hedgehog.
As for Xbox, the topic of this article is none other than John-117, aka the Master Chief of the Halo series, one of the most popular and important FPS franchises of all time.
Master Chief made his debut in November 2001 when the legendary Halo: Combat Evolved arrived as a launch title for the original Xbox. When this game graced us with its presence, it proved that an FPS game can be super-slick with responsive controls using a control pad, instead of the keyboard and mouse.

Sure, the keyboard and mouse will likely always be king, especially when it comes to the FPS genre, but thanks to the likes of Bungie’s Halo: Combat Evolved, it set a new standard on consoles, with its influence still making an impact today.
As brought to our attention by Reddit user Darkenraja, they revealed that inside the Xbox consoles is an embroidered Master Chief helmet. To be fair, unless you’ve taken your console apart and looked in this area specifically, this sneaky easter egg is easy to miss.
“The Xbox Series X internal fan has Master Chief embossed on the side. This isn’t visible unless you open it,” revealed Darkenraja.
“I love that,” declared Rinn10.
“Weird, I opened mine, and it's just a picture of Phil Spencer giving me the finger,” joked Tolendario in response.
“The Xbox One X has the Master Chief riding a scorpion on the motherboard,” replied Saraixx516. Seriously, it does, look it up!
“Well, I might just break my Xbox to find out,” claimed doctafknjay, who may or may not be joking.
The next Halo game to be released is a full remake of the aforementioned Combat Evolved. This remake will be for the campaign only, and sadly, does not include its competitive multiplayer. However, it still features its epic co-op for both offline and online play.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released sometime in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 (yes, really), and Xbox Series X/S.
