It is no secret that current-gen consoles are slacking when it comes to customisation.

I remember the day I added The Last of Us Part 2 inspired dynamic background to my PlayStation 4 home screen.

Check out the official launch trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard below!

I watched as the torch lights flickered and the scene even changed from day to night depending on when I was using my console.

However, dynamic backgrounds for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S leave a lot to be desired.

Nevertheless, Microsoft is still dedicated to adding them and this time, it has focused its attention on the launch of a major new title.

To celebrate the launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which launched last week, EA has added two new dynamic backgrounds to the Xbox Series X/S.

Dedicated to the brand-new BioWare RPG, the two backgrounds depict two separate scenes: one with red and purple tones and a terrifying dragon at the centre whilst the other features cooler tones and scenery of Minrathous.

Although there are just subtle changes to lighting which doesn’t make them the most dynamic, they both come alongside music from The Veilguard’s OST by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe.

Pretty epic if you ask me.

One Twitter user has released a short video which not only shows off the free downloads but also explains how to add them to your Xbox Series X/S homepage.

As for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, our very own Emma Flint was lucky enough to review it ahead of its launch.

Giving it 10/10, she said: “Dragon Age: The Veilguard is exactly what we needed after Inquisition. From the moment I stepped onto Minrathous’ streets, it felt like coming home.

After such an agonising wait, the franchise I adore is back as strong as ever. It respects what’s gone before while also welcoming change and innovation.”
