Released in October and already regarded as one of the best game releases of 2025, this brand-new action-adventure title could be a serious Game of the Year contender.
Better yet, it is completely free to play.
Launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on 21 October, Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally here and the 7th mainline entry in Koei Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden series is already snagging those 10/10 ratings.
Co-developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 follows a brand-new character known as Yakumo but veteran players will be pleased to see the return of series favourite Ryu Hayabusa.

Combining cutting-edge adventure with no-holds-barred combat, the Ninja Gaiden series is definitely back with a bang with Ninja Gaiden 4 with the title already sitting at a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam and an 82 Metascore despite only being out for the past 24-hours.

However, its popularity can definitely be attributed to one important factor.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is currently free to download for Xbox Game Pass members and so can be yours to play for absolutely free.

Available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Xbox Cloud, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can play anywhere and check out the brand-new title that many are calling Game of the Year.
That definitely seems to be the consensus over on r/xbox and r/Xbox Game Pass with users saying Ninja Gaiden 4 will “be my game of the year”, and “it’s a 10/10 in my opinion.”
And it seems as though fellow players agree.

“I booted up this game on GP before work today and was instantly reminded of what a top-tier 3rd person action game is supposed to feel like,” user GoldenAgeGamer72 shared.
None of this Yotei or Wukong nonsense. Ninja Gaiden is still the cream of the crop after all of these years.”
Another user agreed, adding, “Great combat, great gameplay, good graphics, no bugs, girls with big bazingas...
It's a 10/10 for me too! And I also love that they bothered adding an easy mode for all of us who don't want the hardcore experience.”
