Xbox gamers have been left stunned and impressed by a fellow player who managed to snag an Xbox Series X for almost nothing.

It took this player a very long time, but eventually, they reached a point where they could claim an Xbox console, and though it’s certainly impressive, it’s not a tactic for everyone.

The story is told on Reddit, where the user, SoulofThesteppe, shows off a photo of their new 2TB Xbox Series X in the galaxy black finish.

Now you’re wondering, how they did it.

Well, they spent around two years saving up Microsoft Reward points, which are earned in various ways, usually through completing certain campaigns, or hitting milestones, while gaming, or using the Bing search engine.

These points can then be converted into Xbox store credit vouchers, to be spent how you see fit.

Most people get enough points to buy a new game, or maybe a controller, but this savvy gamer waited years and snagged the best Xbox out there.

There is a technicality, it wasn’t completely free, they did have to put a little money towards it, but the bulk of the purchase came from 500,000 Microsoft Points.

“It was incredibly satisfying,” said OP, who continued, “So much “work” was put into getting the number of points, and then blowing it all on the top of the line console. Had been on my “want” list, for the past 6 years since it was announced.”

Of course, this has sparked interest from others, with one Redditor saying, “This is what I plan on doing whenever the next gen consoles release sometime in the next few years.”

Here’s hoping Microsoft doesn’t follow Sony and Nintendo in ending their reward program, because if you start saving now, you might get a hefty discount on whatever the next Xbox is.
