Having to wait for games to finish downloading is the bane of many gamer’s existence, especially as game files are getting larger and larger in recent years.

However, Xbox Series X users are in luck as thanks to a group of people over on r/XboxSeriesX, we now have some handy tips and tricks which will help our downloads finish a lot faster.

If you are anything like me, then you know that if a game is over 100gb, you can kiss goodbye to playing it until at least a few hours have passed.

That is why every little bit of help is worth it as speeding downloads up even slightly can make all the difference.

Luckily, thanks to a post over on Reddit, which has since been deleted, there is a way to speed those downloads up and all it takes is a slight settings adjustment.

“Hi everyone, I found some advice online and wanted to give it more traction here if it can help more people. I don't know how to do this with all internet providers but just try and find your variant,” they shared.

This is recommended for those who are with BT when it comes to internet providers and will require them to go to the HomeHub manager > Advanced Setup > Home Network > Smart Setup and it is the last option that you need to switch off.

“I was getting throttled to 7-11 mbps, this immediately took me to 60-90 mbps,” they continued.

As with any Reddit post, this soon turned into a discussion and fellow user Briski80 also had an interesting tip to share.

“Also if you quit your last played game, it’ll go faster.

It throttles if a game is running in the background to give resources to it.

This was the same on Xbox One. Black Ops was at 20Mbps then after quitting, it went to 150Mbps immediately.”

It may be a small change but it seems as though it definitely makes a difference if you wish to download your latest game a whole lot faster.
