Microsoft have just unveiled their plans for the next-generation of Xbox hardware, and I already like what I’m hearing.
Thank you in advance to Pure Xbox’s Fraser Gilbert for the original source!
Earlier this week, the president of Xbox, Sarah Bond, dropped a bombshell out of nowhere; the next generation of Xbox hardware is in development, and it’s being manufactured in partnership with AMD.

“I am thrilled to share we've established a strategic multi-year partnership with AMD to co-engineer silicon across a portfolio of devices including our next-generation Xbox consoles, in your living room and in your hands,” Bond announced in a video on the official Xbox YouTube channel.
Just to clarify, Bond both is and isn’t referring to the upcoming Xbox ROG Ally handheld in the video. While they make reference to the ROG Ally in the video itself, Microsoft is outwardly referring to the “next-generation” of Xbox hardware here– as in, a new console.
Perhaps the most important part of this entire reveal is right towards the end though, as Bond specifically notes that the next-generation of Xbox hardware will maintain “compatibility with your existing library of Xbox games”.
Hey, it’s perhaps to be expected in this day and age, but it’s still nice to get confirmation that the next generation of Xbox hardware will be backwards compatible.

Beyond all this, however, we don’t really know that much. This was really just a teaser for the next Xbox console, so we don’t have an image of it or specs to contend with at this point in time.
Still, what little they did reveal does sound exciting. Obviously we expected better graphical fidelity with the next-generation, but Microsoft’s partnership with AMD is still an exciting step in the right direction.
Here’s hoping we hear more about the next Xbox in the coming months, because it sounds like Microsoft is gearing up to reveal more already.
