Certain Xbox gamers will receive a free game later this year, one you don’t need Xbox Game Pass for either.
I’m sure we’ve all seen the news that the first Gears Of War game is getting a remaster (again) called Gears of War: Reloaded.
In many ways, it’s a remaster of a remaster, as Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition already increased the resolution and framerate of the title.
This time, the Xbox game is getting a little more love though, and it’s even coming to the PlayStation 5 which means other Xbox games like Halo probably aren’t too far behind.

If you thought Gears Of War getting a remaster was good news, there’s even better news as you’ll probably be able to play it free-of-charge.
While the game will be featured on Xbox Game Pass from day one, those who own a copy of Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to the new version, no subscription needed.
Pretty generous, and for those who don’t own that game, you’ll at least be able to play it for considerably less with Game Pass.
It does interest me to know what this new remaster will mean for Gears Of War: E-Day, the next game in the series which will act as a prequel for the entire thing, going further back than even Gears Of War: Judgement did.

With Gears Of War: Reloaded being a PlayStation game, it makes you wonder if Gears Of War: E-Day will follow it.
Of course, this does also open the door for additional remasters, as I’m sure we’d all love to see Gears Of War 2 brought back for modern platforms.
You can get your free Xbox copy of Gears Of War: Reloaded when it launches on 26 August, provided you own a digital copy of Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition first.
