Xbox gives away iconic IP in bizarre move

A turn up for the books!

We didn’t have this down on our 2024 bingo cards, yet here we are, witnessing an iconic Xbox IP finding a new home elsewhere.

It’s been a surprisingly exciting week for Xbox fans.

Just when we thought we’d said our final farewell to Xbox 360, its revival came back like Jesus on an Easter Sunday.

Although Xbox 360 making a comeback is big news, there’s another interesting move happening that also deserves your attention.

We can't get enough of Hi-Fi Rush, even now

When multiple beloved Bethesda studios were shut down by Microsoft, fans worried they’d never get closure for the games they love.

Arguably, one of the greatest losses amongst the wreckage was that of BAFTA-winning Hi-Fi Rush.

With a 10/10 rating on Steam, it’s not hard to understand why fans were so flabbergasted to see its potential abruptly cut short.

As if by some miracle, Tango Gameworks has been revived in an acquisition that nobody saw coming.

This may be a bizarre turn of events, but it’s one we’re glad of.

Krafton, best known for its The Evil Within franchise, and PUBG, has decided to undo the damage Xbox almost dealt this popular IP.

It’s a rescue that’s come not a moment too soon.

Twitter user YORA posted that this is a “HUGE W”, before asking Microsoft to allow Krafton to “buy The Evil Within IP back”.

“Well, at least it’s better than what Microsoft did to them,” remarked Twinwar, “Hopefully they find success.”

The chorus of “Tango lives” is flooding Twitter, and rightly so.

“Honestly can't wait to see what Tango's going to do now with this opportunity!” commented user Faizyr.

We hope it’s onwards and upwards for these devs and their IP, especially with so many of us believing it saved.

However, only time will tell if Krafton is truly a saviour or not.
