Xbox Game Pass Unexpected Discount Arises, Don't Miss Out

Xbox Game Pass subscribers are noticing unexplained discounts to their subscriptions, despite the price hike.

Xbox is still in hot water after raising the cost of Xbox Game Pass without adding anything of value to it.

Sure Fortnite Crew is going to be part of the Ultimate subscription moving forward but that’s pretty useless if you don’t play Fortnite, and the majority of subscribers are accusing Microsoft of just being greedy.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost 50 percent more than it did before, and yet many subscribers are noticing no change in what they’d usually pay.

“I posted this as a comment reply in some other thread but it didn't get picked up,” began Game Pass subscriber Keeelin over on Reddit. “I know that MS increased the price of GPU significantly recently. I'm due to be charged 14.99 USD on Nov 6th … Shouldn't it be way higher, like double the price? IDK what's going on.”

Other subscribers may have noticed the same thing, and I can even say my subscription hasn’t changed since the price-hike and here’s why.

What's Going On With Xbox Game Pass?

Depending on how you first started your subscription Xbox has no choice but to honour what you’ve been currently paying, depending on what kind of subscription it is.

In my case my subscription started from a free trial that I simply let auto-renew, and unless I cancel and resubscribe I won’t have to pay the new price.

This is why other subscribers are still paying what they were before, because unless you unsubscribe and resubscribe the new price won’t take effect for you, though depending on what part of the world you live in this could be slightly different.

So as much as I understand why so many cancelled their subscriptions following the price-hike announcement, some of them might have been shooting themselves in the foot…

It’s unclear how long these magical discounts will stick around for but if you do find your monthly charge is now more expensive than it was before, cancellation is still an option. Just make sure you don’t cancel why you’re paying a reduced price as you’d be ditching some great savings for ultimately no reason.
