An Xbox gamer has claimed a huge (and legitimate) win of thousands of dollars of free store credit, I kid you not.

It feels like everything is getting more expensive nowadays, not only with the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox and PlayStation but life in general, with the cost-of-living crisis seemingly having no intention of ending anytime soon.

So whether it’s subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game, Pass, free offerings with Amazon’s Prime Gaming, or just a demo that we might download to sample a game, saving money where we can is more important than ever.

Check out DOOM: The Dark Ages trailer below!

With that in mind, courtesy of Microsoft Rewards, Xbox gamers are blown away by a fellow gamer who has won a whopping $7,000 CAD to spend on Amazon. To put that into a currency perspective, in the US, that’s roughly $5,000 and £2,700 in the UK.

That kind of money could easily buy either a brand new console, a fancy 4K TV or a gaming PC and still have some change to spare.

“People do win the contests!!” announced Redditor minime519. “I have seen the odd post asking if anyone ever wins the various contests. Well, I won the $7,000 Amazon gift card contest. I just received the gift cards today. I bought about 600 entries with points, and it paid off handsomely!”

“Congrats! How much did the 600 entries cost you?” asked Outside-Series-6385. “About 12,000 points total. I bought 25 at a time for 500 points,” minime519 informed.

“Congratulations! But I’ll be that guy asking the question. Do you pay taxes on that?” said wavygravee, presenting a very important question to which minime519 replied, “Contest wins are not taxable in Canada.”

So, there you have it, your chances may be very slim, but at least we know for sure that some gamers do win the big Microsoft Rewards prizes. As the saying goes, “You’ve got to be in it to win it.”
