Xbox may be about to limit how many free games you can play

An understandable change

Xbox users could soon be having their game time restricted if they’re cloud-streaming their games, only on certain titles though.

In case you’re unfamiliar Xbox fans have access to a subscription service called xCloud, an app that lets them stream games they’re playing rather than having to install them and play them like that instead.

It’s a neat feature, but not very helpful if you don’t have the internet to get with it

Apparently though if you’re on the free tier you might soon have a restriction on how long you can play multiplayer games like Fortnite.

This was shared on Reddit by IcePopsicleDragon, and while nothing has been confirmed by Xbox or Microsoft it seems credible.

As one commenter pointed out it’s believed the reason for this is due to free tier players “using a ton of bandwidth on Fortnite,” meaning for a smoother gaming experience it’ll have to limit how many people can access it at a time.

For singleplayer titles this shouldn’t be an issue so you should still be fine with a free tier, but if you play multiplayer games a lot you should get ready for this change.

Another user added: “Fortnite is a scourge on GFN too when it has events. But those are paying members and they still want to play that game via GFN when the cheapest console will do. Still Nvidia did a 100h a month limit, because of players like that and probably mmo-ers.”

Out of all the games that could cause issues Fortnite is the obvious one, as the battle-royale is as popular as ever thanks to collaborations and the new seasons introducing exciting changes to the game.

That said it’s not exactly an unfair change, just something you’ll need to be aware of if you use xCloud often.
