Xbox users can claim a nice little free download for one of the best horror games to be released in recent years.
The year 2017 was a great time for horror fans. We were treated to the likes of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, The Evil Within 2, and Outlast II, to name a few. We were also treated to another little delight, the topic of this article, none other than Little Nightmares.
“Take on the role of Six, a lone child lost in a massive metal vessel known as the Maw, surrounded by dangerous, distorted versions of adults,” reads the synopsis of Little Nightmares. “You’ll need to do your best to escape in one piece or your fate will be worse than you ever dared dream.”

Little Nightmares is a horror platforming game with plenty of puzzles and some truly horrific creatures. I won’t spoil much, but there’s a teacher creature in Little Nightmares II, and it’s genuinely one of the most horrid things in gaming.
In January 2024, the publisher of the Little Nightmares series, Bandai Namco, registered the trademark for Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition, a remaster of the 2017 game.
Since that time, it all went a bit quiet regarding the Little Nightmares remaster. That was until a Little Nightmares III gameplay presentation this week, which also revealed the long-awaited release date for the third game.
Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition was officially revealed, and best of all, if you own the 2017 game on PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, this new-gen remaster is free. It’s also offered as early access for those who pre-order Little Nightmares III.

Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 10 October 2025. It’s the same date as Little Nightmares III, which will also be released on Nintendo Switch consoles.
Of course, if you pre-order, you'll get your hands on it earlier but seeing as everyone will eventually, I wouldn't faff about spending too much money.
