The weekend is mere hours away so, yes, Xbox has launched its latest edition of Free Play Days.
This time around, there’s one game available for all Xbox users to enjoy for free and three titles that are for Game Pass users only.
The title that falls into that former category is 2024’s Age of Mythology: Retold, a brilliant remaster of a real-time strategy all-time classic.
You essentially step into the shoes of a god, establishing your own empire while smiting your enemies.

“Wage war across timeless campaigns, fierce skirmishes, and god-powered multiplayer modes,” the synopsis teases.
If you don’t know how Free Play Days works, Age of Mythology: Retold is free to enjoy from now until the end of the day on Sunday, 26 April.
After that point, free access is revoked, so the game isn’t yours to keep.

That being said, Age of Mythology: Retold’s campaign runs for around 25 hours, so you could marathon the game between now and then if you really wanted to.
Nothing will hinder your progression within the game, although I don’t exactly recommend staring at a screen for that long.
Age of Mythology: Retold is on offer for $23.99 instead of $29.99 if you do want to continue playing past Sunday. Pricing will vary regionally.
For Game Pass users, you have an additional three options to pick from - and it doesn’t matter which tier of Game Pass you’re subscribed to.
Baseball fans may want to try out MLB The Show 26 Standard Edition which features new “road to the show mechanics” as players partake in realistic baseball games.
You’ll do all of the usual sports fare including managing a team and training up your players.
It’s on offer for £40.19/$46.89 instead of £59.99/$69.99 for those who wish to play beyond Sunday.
Moving back into the strategy genre, Anno 117: Pax Romana is also available to try, which only launched in late 2025.
It didn’t land to brilliant reviews, but it’s a decent strategic builder if that’s what you fancy leisurely having a play around with.

Set in the Roman empire, you’ll assume the role of a governor as you build and manage cities, shaping the culture of your budding civilisation.
You can expand your empire through trade and diplomacy or by military conquest, making Anno 117: Pax Romana an experience unique to every player.
Finally, survival sandbox The Survivalists is also available to play, plus you can nab this one for a mere £4.39/$4.99 instead of £21.99/$24.99.
It’s the true desert island experience as you attempt to, well, survive. Playable with up to three friends, The Survivalists features charming visuals.
You’ll need to craft, build, forage, and explore all of the island’s mysterious ruins. There’s a bit of a Stardew Valley charm to it.
Again, you have until the end of the day on Sunday, 26 April to enjoy this line-up, so dive in now.
