The announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6 has been roasted by fans, as the long wait for the game looms over our heads.
The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced way back in 2018, which was an entire console generation ago. Back then, the words “PlayStation 5” and “Xbox Series X” were just but a dream.
It’s now been nearly five years since the current generation of platforms were launched, and we have just as much information about it now as we did back in 2018.
With new rumours suggesting the next-generation of Xbox hardware will release in 2027, that means players will have gone an entire generation without a new Elder Scrolls game to enjoy. No, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition and Oblivion Remastered don’t count.

“Really don’t love the fact that we're talking about the end of a generation, when there are still unreleased games that were announced before the current consoles even launched,” reads one comment on Reddit.

“Get used to it. Releases will probably be every two gens for each major title from some of your favorite studios,” retorted another user in the replies.
This has also sparked a conversation around what platforms The Elder Scrolls 6 will be available on, and whether Microsoft will be pursuing it as an exclusive for the next-gen Xbox or if it’ll come to other platforms.
It seems that most are in agreement that The Elder Scrolls 6 will most likely come to PlayStation when it launches. This is down to Xbox’s new strategy of bringing its games to platforms from Sony and Nintendo.
In the past year, we’ve seen games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Forza Horizon 5 make their way over to PlayStation 5. So, it’s very likely we’ll see this with The Elder Scrolls 6 too.
