In case you fancied picking up a new game this week, Xbox's latest round of discounts includes a highly-rated game available for less than the price of a coffee.
If you're a person who likes to jump between different games quite often, I imagine that certain releases may simply slip through the cracks for you.
When it seems like a new big game is coming out every week or two, there are some that end up being put on the wishlist pile and forgotten about until you find a gap in your calendar.

One game that's part of Xbox's Shocktober sale is Control: Ultimate Edition, an updated version of the Remedy Entertainment game released in 2019.
The game is currently available for £3.49 ($3.99), reduced down from its regular price of £34.99. It also includes all DLC expansions like The Foundation and A.W.E.
Control was originally released in 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. While high-end PC users could enjoy the game uninterrupted, the aging hardware of the consoles meant the game suffered from performance issues and long loading times.
This led to Remedy porting the game to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in 2021, allowing the game to take full advantage of the console hardware to bring the game more in-line with its intended vision.

The original Xbox One version of Control received a Metacritic score of 84, while the improvements made to the Series X/S brought that number up to 87.
Control is the second game set in the "Remedy Connected Universe", a series of games made by Remedy that share a universe in the same way the MCU or Tarantinoverse films share connections.

It's about Jesse Faden, the newest director of the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control), as she explores the bureau's headquarters in search for her brother, while also trying to contain a paranatural threat which has been let loose inside the building.

The game was followed up with Alan Wake 2, the next game in the 'RCU' which made further connections between the two series.
A multiplayer spin-off titled FBC Firebreak was released earlier this year, and a full sequel called Control 2 is currently in production. It doesn't yet have a release window.
Remedy is also busy working on remakes of the first two Max Payne games in collaboration with Rockstar Games, though it's unknown if these will make any connections to the RCU.
