If you take the visual style of Valheim, and mix it with the gameplay and tone of Red Dead Redemption, you get this interesting upcoming release.
The game is called Forty-Niner, and it’s being released into early access on Steam, though there’s currently no release date set for launch.
It’s easy to see both games as inspiration here, because the blocky, mannequin style design of the people, mixed with the dappled scenery, really evokes the feeling of walking through a Valheim forest, ready to build a cabin.
While there are plenty of features comparable to Valheim, the tone sits much closer to something like Red Dead Redemption, because this is rooted in action and adventure.

There is still a healthy amount of crafting and survival mechanics in Forty-Niner, according to the developer's synopsis on the Steam store page.
Players will find themselves in a procedurally generated world, and it’s filled with riches, as well as bandits and animals, all trying to make life more difficult.
Everything you would expect is here, from building a homestead, to hunting wildlife, and even some dungeon crawling through underground caves and into fast-flowing rivers.
It’s all in search of valuable materials, perfect for crafting, or stretching out your survival.

Playable solo or in co-op, the whole world feels alive, with NPCs who have their own schedules to keep, and routines to check off.
This gives Forty-Niner a sense of life, and a rich skill system will ensure that your character grows and develops however you want them to.
If you’re a survival game fan, or you’re just partial to cowboys and the Wild West, then this is a PC game you’ll want to keep an eye on.
More news will be revealed on the Steam page, so be sure to wishlist the game to stay up to date.
