The Legend of Zelda Meets Red Dead Redemption in Upcoming Steam Game

Red Dead Redemption fans should hold space for this new upcoming game coming to Steam.

This new game combines the wild west theme of Red Dead Redemption with a retro-style old-school vibe akin to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Tombwater described as a “Souls-Like Western”, where you “explore the accursed Wild West town of Tombwater and lay bare the eldritch horrors that lie beneath.”

The residents of Tombwater have become afflicted by madness, where monsters roam the streets and eldritch terrors lurk in the shadows.

You play as a lone gunslinger who arrives at the town to find a lost friend, and ends up becoming embroiled in the town’s horrors.

Described as a souls-like, Tombwater features an interconnected world where you discover “canyons, scrublands, forests, mines, and more,” and open up shortcuts, secret areas, and other hubs to find your way around.

The combat uses a combination of dashes and slashes, where you use an arsenal of “firearms, blades, spells, apothecary items, and charms to develop your own playstyle to fight against the madness.”

Check out the announcement trailer for Tombwater below, which was revealed over two years ago.

Although there’s no telling how long the game exactly will last, we do know there are “20+ horrifying boss battles”, as well as a large map, which should at least give you the idea that the game is planned to be pretty expansive.

There still isn’t a release date announced for Tombwater yet, however the game now has a free demo for you to try out. To install it, simply head over to the Tombwater page on Steam and find the “Download Tombwater Demo” section.

The demo allows you to check out a small slice of the game for free, so when the full game does eventually launch you'll be able to make an informed decision on whether to purchase.
