Hey, you. You having a bit of a stressful day? Fancy doing something relaxing to ease the tension, but don’t wanna spend your hard-earned cash in the process?

In that case, I have just the thing. Sit back, relax, and enjoy building some silly little dioramas this evening.

ShantyTown on Steam is an upcoming city builder from developer Erik Rempen and publisher Silk Softworks, where you just... build some nice dioramas.

That’s it. That’s the whole game. Sounds simple, sure, but also, simple sounds kinda nice right now, don’t ya think?

That’s why it’s handy that ShantyTown just got a brand new demo on Steam, so you can relax without having to spend a single penny.

It doesn’t have a review consensus yet, but every single review for the demo is positive so far.

“Usually in builders I get stressed because nothing looks perfect enough, ShantyTown excells in creating beauty in chaos, the messiness suits the environment and stacking buildings creates satisfying designs,” writes Steam reviewer nicole.lestrange.

“It's also exceedingly charming how when your building up an area, previous scenes are also visible. As if you're truly creating a world. Can't wait for the full release.”

“This game is incredible. It seems so fun and I can't wait for the full game. I played on Steam Deck and apart from some glitchy camera issues it's fine,” commented Steam reviewer RuthyBee.

“Stairs would be a good item to add, and maybe a roof off view for the pipe area? Or maybe a way to see an areas floor plan. But as I said, lots of cosy fun. Lots of levels please!”

No word on exactly when the full release for this one will drop, but the demo looks like it’s in a pretty good state to me.

Keep an eye on the Steam page, and maybe even wishlist it, if the demo is to your liking.
