Eight fresh new games can be yours on Steam right now, for the absolutely criminally low price of free, but are any of them worth playing?
There are lots of free games on Steam. In fact, there are literally dozens of new ones on there every single day.
But your time is still valuable, so let’s go on a fun journey together as we try to figure out if any of these games are worth investing any time into.
As always, thank you to the Free Steam Games Twitter account for collating all of the games on this list!

Ok, I’m going to very loosely rank these from what I perceive to be the worst, to the best. Keep in mind that I haven’t played any of these, so I’m basing most of this on a combination of Steam reviews and vibes.
First up, Hunter's Arena: Revolution from developer and publisher Megalink. The "Mostly Negative" review score on this one should probably speak for itself. Terrible servers mixed with below-average hack-and-slash gameplay equals meh, apparently.
Realms Road is a turn-based RPG from developer and publisher Mehmet Kemal Tankut that looks straight out of RPG Maker. I don’t wanna be too harsh here, as this looks like a solo dev just trying their best, but that trailer looks straight out of the early 2000s Naruto AMV days.
Next up, Blindsided Labs from a developer and publisher also named Blindsided Labs. Not much to go on with the reviews for this one, but it seems that the idler gameplay is just a little too basic for most.

One/Iro is a 3D horror game from developer and publisher Altrea Stories, and to be frank, I just don't have much to say about this one. No review consensus, and very little to go off.
Scope Battle Royale is, as the name may imply, a battle royale shooter from developer and publisher Operation Games. The reviews are mixed on this one, so I can only recommend trying it if you simply love BR games.
Alright, into the good stuff.
Nightlings is a first-person horror game from developer and publisher Team Nightlings, and I think it's got some charm. The reviewers seem relatively complimentary, too. Looks like a strong opener for a student dev team.

Mech Merc Company is a "90s style mech combat simulator" from developer and publisher Michael Shoots, and I legit think this looks great. It's hitting the PS1 vibes perfectly, and the reviews are super positive as well.
And finally, Kasama: The Awakening from developer and publisher PIGIAMA KASAMA. I quite frankly cannot believe that this one is free. It looks absolutely stunning. It's giving me some proper Nights into Dreams vibes, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
And that’s the whole list!
I will see you back here in probably less than 24 hours for another one of these, because the free Steam games just don’t stop coming.
