If you have a penchant for all things cosy, Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth absolutely must be on your wishlist.

I had the opportunity to sample this charming upcoming adventure last year, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

Created by Hyper Games, Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth is based upon Tove Jansson’s iconic Moomin franchise, following in the footsteps of the studio’s previous title Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley.

Worry not though, my friends. You don’t need any familiarity with Moomin or that prior title.

Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth functions as a standalone story, with Moomintroll awakening early from hibernation in the frost-covered Moominvalley.

“The familiar landscape of Moominvalley is now cloaked in the frosty veil of the Lady of the Cold,” the synopsis reads.

“Initially seeking someone to care for him and longing to banish winter, young Moomintroll reluctantly embarks on a journey into the unknown, learning to forge new friendships and help those in greater need than himself.”

Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth Has Confirmed Its Launch Date

Itching to try it out for yourself? Well, Hyper Games has just confirmed Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth’s launch date.

The game is set to arrive on 27 April, plus as well as the previously confirmed PC version, it’s also now been announced that Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth will also arrive on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.

Go Hands-On With One Hour of The Game Yourself

And that’s still not all. A brand new demo has just dropped on PC via Steam as a part of The MIX Indie Fan Fest.

The 60-minute long demo features never-before-seen gameplay. Beyond that, there’s very little else available on what it entails, so you may as well dive in.

That’s what I’ll be doing tonight. I haven’t yet had the chance to preview the demo, but it’s sitting there calling my name.

I have, however, previously sampled Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth, so I can give you some idea as to what the game plays like.

It’s a third-person adventure played from somewhat of a top-down point-of-view.

It centres around story-based exploration and environmental puzzle solving.

In the demo I experienced, Moomintroll had to reunite dog Sorry-oo with its owner, chopping down wooden logs, avoiding blustery winds, and shovelling snow in order to do so.

The game boasts a gorgeous 2D animated art style that so wonderfully captures the essence of the franchise.

What I’ve seen from Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth so far really does tick every box on my cosy checklist. Bring on 27 April.
