With Halo: Combat Evolved finally receiving a must desired remake, the next best thing is here to keep that wait a little bit easier.
Last week saw Halo Studios announce that the iconic Halo: Combat Evolved will be receiving an official remake with the news coming almost 25-years after its original release.
With Halo fans over the moon with the official confirmation after months of rumours, they will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on it with it not expected to launch until some time next year.
Luckily, the next best thing is here to keep you occupied until then. The self-proclaimed Halo spin-off is none other than Spartan Survivors, a bullet-hell roguelite which will see players fight off hordes of enemies in hours of fun gameplay.

Players can expect ten playable levels as well as five difficulty modes, 21 weapons available across 105 evolutions alongside 14 perks and 56 upgrades so you will be able to customise your load out to your play style.
There will also be eight playable characters to choose from, each with their own unique abilities, weapons, perks and stats and players will even be able to unlock a Custom Game if they wish to stray from the conventions of the normal mode.

Receiving official support
Back in June 2025, the Director of Communication at Halo Studios commented on Spartan Survivors and said the following:

"Really love to see the passion you and your team have poured into this experience - it really is fun and we look forward to getting further in our play through and unlocking more stuff."
So it is safe to say that it has the Halo stamp of approval.
With the game reaching over 10,000 downloads over on Itchio where it was available before it launched on Steam, you do not want to miss out on the Halo spin-off that everybody is loving, especially with it already hitting a "Positive" rating on the PC storefront.
Better yet, it is completely free so what are you waiting for?
