Steam users who’ve had enough of Stardew Valley, or just fancy a break from it, should check out this latest freebie instead.
Listen, I know farming and life sims are a dime a dozen nowadays, with so many developers seeking the same success Stardew Valley achieved. There's been a few out there I think have done pretty well for themselves, like this Stardew Valley and Pokémon-Inspired panda-riding, soulslike farming sim, or this delayed Stardew Valley meets Hogwarts Legacy sim.
If I was a betting man I’d say Sunkissed City has the best chances of rivalling Stardew Valley, seeing as it’s being developed by someone who used to work on the game alongside lead dev ConcernedApe.
Today, we're not talking about any of these other farming sims. We're talking about Isle of Finbari, an early-access game you can play for free on Steam right now.
Isle of Finbari is in Early Access Now, How to Play for Free
After an opening straight out of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, you'll find yourself on an island shore with nothing to your name.

After interacting with the island’s residents you’ll build yourself a life here by getting your own house, scavenging for useful items and generally getting to know the locals better.
There are caves to venture into, plants and crops to grow, even an arcade to pass some time in. As long as it's less frustrating than Jumino Kart, there'll be loads of fun to be had there,

Taking a look at the Steam page I think it looks decent. The only issue I have is the visuals. I love pixel art games, having grown up playing them.
So while I appreciate the vibe Isle of Finbari is going for, the colour could do with some improvement.
I’m not trying to be mean, but in the early access screenshots some of the colours feel a little washed out.
Maybe it’s because I’m comparing it to Stardew Valley, which is much more vibrant in comparison, but can you blame me?
It’s not the whole game, mind you, as the beach, caves and other areas look ace. It’s just the occasional shot of a field or building that looks a bit out of place.
Nevertheless, Isle of Finbari looks like a good alternative to Stardew Valley if you’re in the market for one, but like I said at the beginning it’s currently in early-access.
If you’re interested in playing it before its official release you can do so by signing up. We've not heard anything like a release date just yet, but we'll be sure to let you know as soon as we know.
