Stardew Valley maintains its stronghold over the cosy gaming space, with its nostalgic pixel-art 2D world always there to welcome us home.
Developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is busy working away on the game’s free 1.7 update which is yet to set a release date.
What we do know is that it’ll introduce Clint and Sandy as new marriage candidates.
It’s very likely that it’ll launch on PC before consoles, as we saw with the previous 1.6 update, but that’s not confirmed at this point in time.

The update probably won’t land too imminently either as Barone is also hard at work on his successor to Stardew Valley, the highly anticipated Haunted Chocolatier.
In the meantime, you will soon be able to experience a free 3D version of Stardew Valley thanks to a mind-blowing fan project.
The Third Dimension is an impressive mod that’s currently in development with a proof of concept video having been uploaded by YouTube channel kittycatcasey.
This isn’t a 3D remake of Stardew Valley that strips the indie behemoth of all of its charm; the 3D overhaul works within the game’s engine, retaining all of its pixel-art appeal.
The 3D mod has been in development since 2025. Unfortunately, no launch date has been set just yet with kittycatcasey, known on some platforms as spacechase0, still working on the project.
They’re in the midst of giving everything a unique 3D model which is no small undertaking.
Eventually, all of those on PC will be able to download and play the 3D overhaul with a virtual reality mode launching alongside it.

That means that if you have a VR headset, you can truly step into the magical world of Stardew Valley.
The 3D mode somewhat has that effect anyway as it turns Stardew Valley into a first person experience.
You’ll be able to get a realistic feel for the scale of the world.
While there’s still a way to go until this mod is complete, it’s generated a ton of hype among the Stardew Valley playerbase.
“3D STARDEW OMG,” read one YouTube comment.
“Dawg, actively having a mental breakdown and coming across this f**king snapped me back to reality,” added another.
“This is so cool,” said one fan.
You can watch the proof of concept video for yourself below. It goes without saying that not all environments and objects will have rendered perfectly given its development status.
We'd love to know what Barone thinks of this creation. While it’s very much in keeping with Stardew Valley’s aesthetic, it’s drastically different to his original vision.
