Steam drops dozens of free downloads you can get into right now

There’s a new Steam Fest underway, and it’s probably the cutest one yet, with a wealth of cuddly critters and adorable animals.

Every few weeks, Steam rolls out a new festival to celebrate genres or features within games, and this one is all about creature collecting.

Cult of the Lamb has a hefty discount in the latest Steam Fest

Steam Creature Collector Fest is running now, and ends on 19 May, and it features plenty of brilliant games, many of which have free demos you can download now.

With the creature collecting theme, it’s no surprise to see the like of Palworld in there, with a 25% discount to boot.

You’ll also find Digimon heavily featured, with Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition getting its price slashed.

If this is your jam, then you’re in luck, because some absolute bangers are included in the sale, including the superb Cult of the Lamb, which does collect creatures in some way, even if you end up sacrificing them.

PC players don’t have access to legal ways to play Pokémon, so the next best thing is here in games like Temtem, or Nexomon.

It’s well worth diving into the full selection, especially if you’re looking for something to scratch that Pokémon itch as we wait for the next game in the franchise.

I’m a huge fan of this genre, so can happily recommend games like Paleo Pines, because of its dinosaurs; Slime Rancher 2, simply because it’s goofy fun; and Bugsnax due to its surreal sense of humour and shades of darkness.

Before you dive into buying any of these, most have demos to give you a taste of what’s to come, and any of these can be downloaded to your PC, Steam Deck or handheld PC of choice.
