Steam drops 5 new free games you can download and play this weekend

Ever wanted to be a pirate thief?

Want to get stuck into a brand-new game that is 1) severely underrated and 2) is completely free? Then we have you covered.

Well, Steam has you covered by adding another batch of free games to its PC storefront to download and play right now.

A fan of Gris? Check out Chroma which is free to download on Steam right now.

So if you are on the search for a pirate adventure, an action roguelike or a turn-based strategy game to name a few, keep reading.

First up is Starboard, an action-adventure game which sees you take on the role of pirate thief, Cillian Cade.

After a heist gone wrong, Cillian must deal with the consequences of now owning a magical gauntlet possessed by the spirit of a pirate lord who wants to search for an ancient vault.

Next is Tank Frenzy Survivor, an action roguelike where you will need to hop into the cockpit of a powerful tank and survive waves of alien invaders.

Upgrade your firepower and survive for as long as you can in this 2D, top-down shooter.

Gnomich is for, well, fans of gnomes I guess.

This clicker game will task you with mining for resources in the local mines as well as upgrading your gnome so that they can discover unique collectibles.

With one mineral to find every three hours, you can even enter the game’s discord in order to take part in player tournaments.

Fans of turn-based strategy titles can check out South Pole Bebop, a futuristic deck-building game where you can control characters and protect your bases.

Inspired by Into the Breach and set on a 9x9 board, players will have to create a unique deck of cards as they eliminate the opponent and stave off a zombie horde.

Last but not least is Chroma, a solo third-person narrative platformer where you play as an artist who must discover her creativity.

By restoring life and bringing colour back to her environment, this one is reminiscent of Gris and makes for a heartwarming tale.
