Gamers of a certain age can enjoy another healthy dose of nostalgia at a reduced price thanks to this new sale on Steam.

The Metal Gear Solid series has been one of the foundational bastions of the modern stealth genre, with plenty of design principles and features found in this genre originating from this franchise.

While we haven’t had a new Metal Gear Solid game in a long time (and it’s been even longer since we had a good one), Konami did release a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater last year, which received heaps of praise.

In case you were on the fence about checking it out, Konami has now discounted Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater by 60% off, allowing you to check the game out at a hugely reduced price.

Normally priced at $69.99, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently on sale for $27.99 on Steam, giving you a savings of $42. Here in the United Kingdom, the game is also priced at £27.99, which feels a bit cheeky considering exchange rates should really put it to around £21.

It’s not the lowest price the game has come down to, but less than a year on from its release, it’s a decent deal if you’ve been on the fence about it.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is pretty good if you want a faithful remake of the original

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater serves as a remake of the original game with all of the gameplay, animations, and flow kept intact, but with an Unreal Engine 5 makeover.

This results in a rather uncanny feeling seeing high-resolution character models fitted over dated animations, but we still reckon it’s a pretty good time nonetheless, especially for fans of the series.

In our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater review from last year, we said that “Konami has improved on near-perfection by leaving all the original story beats, cutscene direction and dialogue alone, and instead, focused all of its attention on improving the visuals and gameplay experience. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a masterpiece reborn.”

The fifth game in the Metal Gear Solid series (and canonically, the first one in the franchise’s timeline), Snake Eater, introduced new elements to the series, such as a Cold War-era setting, as well as new stealth and survival game mechanics that weren’t seen in the previous titles.

It was followed by several direct sequels, including Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which all feature references to the plot in Snake Eater.

Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid fans also have the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 to look forward to, which releases on August 27, 2026.

This collection includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, two titles which were left out of the first Master Collection. It also includes the Game Boy Color title, Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, as a bonus.
