If you’re a fan of sprawling open-world RPGs akin to the likes of Skyrim, Crimson Desert, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you’re not going to want to miss this promising new free offering.
Developed by Angela Game and published by Celestial Star Publishing, Myth of Empires: Throne is set to land on PC storefront Steam tomorrow, 16 April, and it’s completely free-to-play.
It drops players into an enormous sandbox world where RPG and survival gameplay formulas combine.
You’ll explore, encounter multiple civilisations, tame creatures, craft powerful weapons, and build your own guild in what looks to be a very comprehensive experience.
There are, in fact, various regions to discover.

Zhongzhou comprises mountains, plains, snowfields, deserts, rainforests, and swamps, while Dongzhou is where you’ll find volcanoes, coastlines, bamboo groves, and islands.
Xizhou offers a blend of deserts and oases where you’re likely to find cave-dwelling bosses that are ready to put up a fight.
Of course, as a free-to-play title, Myth of Empires: Throne will take every opportunity it can get to earn some money from you elsewhere.

For example, there seems to be quite a number of paid DLC packs, and I’m sure the game will feature an in-game storefront of some kind.
If you just choose to go with the free base game experience though, you can still enjoy over 1,300 recipes, 500 achievements, and 25 skill talent lines, among other features.
“Begin from nothing in a living world of dynamic day-night cycles and complex ecosystems as you explore, survive, and build your power,” the synopsis teases.
“NPCs, horses, and wild beasts can all be trained and raised to become trusted combat and transport companions.
“Grow your guild through breeding and training as they aid you in exploration, warfare, and long-range expeditions.”
There are over 100 melee weapons to select from, with players able to engage in enormous sieges, building defensive structures to protect their guilds.
The only caveat is that devs note that servers will reset from time to time to place players at the same starting point which isn’t ideal.
“Expand your dominion through County Battles, Fortress Battles, and cross-server expeditions while competing for world dominance through alliances, diplomacy, and war.”

Created in Unreal Engine 5, Myth of Empires: Throne is certainly very well-presented, looking like a AAA game in terms of quality.
Let’s hope it sticks the landing and resonates with players when it launches tomorrow.
