The wait for Far Cry 7 seems never-ending but help may be on the way thanks to an upcoming survival shooter which is definitely giving us Far Cry vibes.

Developed by People Can Fly and set to be released on 25 September, Lost Rift is an upcoming “first-person, survival extraction shooter” which aims to blend co-op PvE base building with high-stakes multiplayer expeditions.

People Can Fly, who have previously worked on titles such as Outriders and Painkiller, now plan to bring players an adventure set across a vast archipelago as players, either solo or with up to five friends, can craft gear, build bases, defeat raiders and perhaps, most importantly, become legendary.

In Lost Rift, you will find yourself with the bare minimum after washing up on shore on a beach at Pioneers’ Landing.

It may be beautiful but it is also full of mysteries and you will have to do what it takes to survive if you wish to stay alive long enough to uncover them.

This means going on quests to gather resources, building a camp, crafting equipment, exploring the open seas and preparing for intense multiplayer expeditions where you may even stumble across unique survivors to recruit to your camp.

On your personal PvE island, you will be able to make a home as, after all, survival is not just about defeating enemies.

However, it is in Lost Rift’s adrenaline-fuelled expeditions where players will see that Far Cry inspiration as they will have to battle against other players to score the most valuable resources.

Use guns and melee weapons to take down the opposition and most of all, make sure you grab the loot and run before that extraction timer runs out.

“Become a legendary coop or solo survivalist while hurricanes, fires, and lightning strikes threaten everything. Dense fog shrouds the landscape in an eerie silence,” the Steam synopsis for Lost Rift reads.

“Bravery is a necessity as you continue your adventure and navigate the challenging dynamic environment.”

As mentioned, Lost Rift is set to be released on 25 September so if you are eagerly awaiting the release of Far Cry 7 and want the next best thing, this may be the game for you.
