Fallout meets Stranger Things and Resident Evil in wild new horror

Retro horror vibes are welcome

An upcoming horror game has caught our attention, and it’s giving off so many pop culture vibes that we’re eagerly looking forward to its release.

Quite a Ride seems to be pulling inspiration from several sources, all appealing in their own way.

Stranger Things will return for its final season this year.

The run-down, almost apocalyptic feel of the world here is giving off major Fallout feelings, with ruined structures, broken down machinery, and lifeless areas.

This is an environment evolving, changing as you move through it.

You were supposed to be cycling to a friend's house, however, as you pedal, an anomaly breaks out, swamping the town with mist; suddenly monsters lurk within the shadows.

It’s easy to see Stranger Things here, a reminiscent image of kids cycling through an innocent world before chaos ensues and nothing is the same ever again.

On the Steam page for Quite a Ride, there are GIFs showing huge tentacles tearing out from beneath the ground, swarming the roads on which you frantically cycle.

In the distance, just on the horizon, large creatures totter around on spindly legs, evoking a sense of terror, as you would find in a Resident Evil game.

There are some interesting mechanics in-play here, too. As you fight to survive, moving from place to place on your bike, it’s essential you keep your mobile phone charged as it delivers cryptic messages leading you further into the mystery.

Interactions, and even items you collect, will cause the world to evolve, ever-changing and pushing you to move forward, hoping you’ll escape this new nightmare.

It’s all a very intriguing premise, with some lovely features that will test players, and if you’re a fan of horror, it may be worth sticking this on your wishlist.

There’s no release date set, so far, but if you keep your eye on this promising game, hopefully all will be revealed.
