Assassin's Creed meets Valheim in huge Steam RPG you can play free

This upcoming Steam RPG is a biggie

There are a lot of incredible RPGs out there that demand our attention, but few are quite as huge and as awe-inspiring as this new Steam title.

When we say it’s big, we’re not casually bandying about that word – this upcoming Steam game is said to deliver roughly 400 hours of gameplay. I’ve sunk over 300 hours into Baldur’s Gate 3, across multiple runs, to put that number into perspective for you.

Steeped in ancient Mayan culture, this tale combines the narrative storytelling of Assassin’s Creed with the struggle for survival of Valheim; a winning combination, we can all agree.

“Escaping a deadly sacrificial ritual, you find an ancient mystical mask on your journey. This mask holds potent knowledge, changing the world you knew.”

The synopsis continues, “Face the harsh challenges of nature, survive, rally followers, and build your own tribe. Explore and unveil the truths behind the enigmatic mask.”

As the leader of your tribe, you'll shape not just your own destiny, but the lives of your people as well. Not that it’ll be easy, as this PC title is going to throw a lot of enemies your way as you try to claim what’s rightfully yours.

Still, your people – those NPCs you so often overlook – won't take kindly to you bullying them.

As revealed during an exclusive interview with PCGamesN, the publisher - Qooland Games – has strived to ensure NPCs offer unique interactions.

“Your tribespeople are not just plain NPCs, like in an Excel sheet. We’re trying to give them diverse personalities and emotions,” they explained.

“For example, one of your tribespeople might be an alcoholic, so if you assign them to do work at night, you see them sneaking into the storeroom, grabbing alcohol. These are good stories that players can share.”

Soulmask will launch on Steam later this year, though a more precise date has yet to be provided. Make sure to wishlist it so you don’t miss out on its launch!
