The hype surrounding Starfield is reaching fever pitch, even more so after an online leak regarding the Starfield launch event.

No official announcement has been made, but according to a recent Twitter post, a “confidential source” at Microsoft has said that an “interactive” event will take place to celebrate the game’s release.

Prepare for space with Starfield's gameplay reveal

The original poster, Karim Jovian, also added that their source was “really excited” about what’s to come when talking to them.

Naturally, with a leak like this, fans need to prepare for it to be false. After all, Bethesda has yet to announce anything, so this could simply be hype for the sake of it. Still, while caution is advised, a launch event does seem logical given Bethesda’s history.

As one Redditor rightly said, “Well, I mean, they were hardly going to downplay a launch event, were they?”, with another user asking if the launch will be similar to what they did with Fallout 4. “I wonder if this is just them showing it off at Gamescom and letting people choose what the person playing does next (like they did for Fallout 4)?”

Gamescon 2023 is imminent, running from 23 August until 27 August, so it would make sense for the devs to make a show of the launch at such a prestigious, well known convention.

However, while there’s a lot of rational thinking coming from fans, others are allowing themselves to get carried away with the leak – commander_snuggles said “They are going launch several lucky fans into space to try and find alien life”.

We can but hope. Assuming the alien life is happy to see us.

Wild speculations and daydreaming aside, a lot of fans are questioning the legitimacy of the “leak” due to the original poster being unknown to them. As is always wise to do, gamers are holding out for more solid details before they get too overexcited about any Starfield launch events.

For now, we have to sate our appetites with the knowledge that Starfield will launch on 6 September, and that there might be an event launch to celebrate it. Emphasis on the might.
