Starfield PlayStation 5 Release Date Leaks, Mark Your Calendars

This is starting to get kind of embarrassing

The worst-kept secret in video game history is back once again, because it seems like we now know when Starfield will be coming to PS5… although it is a little later than expected.

Everyone and their mother knows it at this point, so there’s not much point in beating around the bush; there’s about a 99.99% chance that Starfield is getting a PlayStation 5 port, and honestly, the 0.01% chance is only accounting for the possibility that a meteor strikes the earth before it releases.

Bethesda’s 2023 space-faring RPG is, for now, an Xbox and PC exclusive, but there’s so much info pointing towards its inevitable PS5 port that it’s getting kind of difficult to collate it all.

First up, it’s a no-brainer considering that Microsoft have been releasing a bunch of their Xbox-published titles on PlayStation over the past year, including Gears of War: Reloaded, Doom: The Dark Ages, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Forza Horizon 5.

Then there was the time that well-regarded leaker NateTheHate stated that Starfield’s release on PS5 is “just a matter of when”.

And, perhaps most damning, there was that time when the PlayStation logo was found on Bethesda's official mod website for Starfield.

And now, as revealed by MP1ST's James Lara, a source close to the outlet has revealed that "Microsoft is leaning toward releasing the Starfield PS5 version in Spring 2026".

According to Lara, the source noted that the delay in releasing the PS5 port is due to the less-than-stellar reception of Starfield’s latest expansion, Shattered Space.

Admittedly, that does make a lot of sense.

Bethesda have been waffling on about how they will be sharing “more about the exciting things” that they have planned for the game in “the coming months” recently, so it seems that they’re trying to get the game into a better shape before the PS5 port drops (assumedly in a bid to pump up the sales numbers).

Very curious to hear about said exciting updates, whenever they drop, because they’re gonna need to pull something impressive out of the bag if they want people to get excited.
