With GTA VI’s current release date comes the possibility that it might get delayed again, allowing other games to capitalise on its missed deadline.
Rockstar Games clearly wants nothing short of perfection for GTA VI otherwise it wouldn’t have delayed it in the first place, meaning if the developer still isn’t happy with its status by Spring 2026 it’ll happily push its launch back further.
The likelihood of this happening seems to have gone up recently too, as it’s believed Bethesda and Xbox’s space-faring RPG Starfield is to be re-released on the PlayStation 5 next year.
This comes from MP1st, which says the game will be re-released on PlayStation 5 alongside a second expansion.

It said: “According to our sources, MP1st was told that Starfield won’t be released in 2025, partly due to the RPG’s weak sales of the first expansion, Shattered Space. Instead, Microsoft is leaning toward releasing the Starfield PS5 version in Spring 2026.”
Readers rightfully pointed out that the release date would clash with GTA VI, though many reckon this is a clear sign that Rockstar already has plans to push the game back once again.
Reddit user yolotrip said “No way they release GTA in the Spring I agree, they would miss out on so much money releasing it in the Spring, a smart decision for a company is to release a product of that magnitude closer to Christmas.”
“GTA will most likely get another delay until September, some inside sources say” said user Seraphayel.

Personally I think GTA VI is still on track for its Spring 2025 release date, as while it probably does make more sense on paper to release it around Christmas it’s GTA VI, it’s going to sell well regardless.
It’s more likely that Starfield’s PS5 port will be delayed, and releasing it in 2026 so long after its initial launch date is already a questionable move.
