Red Dead Redemption 2 fans obsessed with setting that turns it into a 'whole new game'

Worth a try

Apparently Red Dead Redemption 2 feels like an entirely new game when it’s played exclusively in first-person, and there’s nothing better to do so why not give it a go?

Until GTA VI comes out Red Dead Redemption 2 and to a lesser degree GTA V are all we have when it comes to open-world Rockstar Games.

Check out the trailer for GTA VI below

That said, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was recently updated with several much-needed changes and fixes, making it worth a go if you slept on it the first time around and it’s on sale for Black Friday.

Back to the topic at hand though Red Dead Redemption 2 is still a fantastic game over five years later, and well-worth playing again if it’s been a while.

Before you do though, consider playing it exclusively in first-person mode, as fans of the game would tell you it feels like a totally different experience.

Take this Reddit thread from a few years ago for example, as even when the game first came out setting controls to that of a “standard FPS” and starting the story from scratch makes it feel like you’re “playing a brand new game.”

Rockstar Games first implemented the first-person mode in the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 release of GTA V, and while it was a welcome addition it did feel a bit clunky at times especially with the movement.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 having the mode as standard it gave Rockstar the opportunity to improve on the mode and ensure the missions and game world were compatible with a first-person perspective.

For greater effect turn off the in-game HUD and try to find your way around with the map and road signs alone.

If you don’t want to go that extreme at least give the opening hours a go solely from a first-person perspective, it’s worth a try.
