Red Dead Redemption 3 Prequel Setting Unites Gamers
Should it be this way?
Red Dead Redemption 3 could be another prequel, but is that the right move for the series going forward?
Rockstar Games will inevitably revisit its Wild West setting at some point, maybe not immediately after GTA VI but some time in the future. Before then fans have one big question.
Is Red Dead Redemption 3 another prequel?
Red Dead Redemption 2 took us back to the events before Red Dead Redemption, with Jack Marston still being a playable protagonist but much, much later in the game.

It was a stroke of genius in my opinion as there was so much history teased in the story of Red Dead Redemption. It only made sense that we’d see that play out in another game at some point or other.
However with Red Dead Redemption 3 as a possibility fans are coming to terms with the idea of it being yet another prequel, and whether it’d be a good idea or not.
The resounding opinion is a big “no”, as many have passionately rallied for the next game to be something new rather than the same old characters we’ve seen already.
“If Red Dead Redemption 3 is another prequel I'd cry. Let’s have Jack Marston in both world wars” read a thread on Facebook.
“A prequel from another prequel? That is just dumb writing.” said one of the comments.
Another said “I don't know why people think it will be a good idea to have RDR3 with the gang in their early days. Remember what impact it had on all of us with Arthur's and the gang's story towards the end in RDR2? Now imagine what the impact would even be in RDR3 if we already know the fate of all the characters and how their story ends. t would be pointless.
“If they make a RDR3, they kinda have no choice but to either go with entirely new characters/gang or continue the story with either Sadie or Charles. Personally, I would go with an entire new gang set in the golden age of the Wild West.”
Should Red Dead Redemption 3 be another prequel? Probably not. Will Red Dead Redemption 3 be another prequel? I’d bet not. Rockstar Games is running out of story for the current gang, so I’d imagine the next game will be something entirely different, possibly not even titled Red Dead Redemption.
