We should be used to discovering new secrets in Red Dead Redemption 2 by now, yet each time another is found, we are amazed at the depth of the game.

Rockstar Games is known for packing in the minute details, but this one feels especially impressive.

After 400 hours of playing, one Red Dead Redemption 2 user has clocked a secret that’ll make keeping time much easier, and far more aesthetically pleasing.

Sometimes you'll win big in Red Dead Redemption 2, and other times you'll fail

Are you picking up what we’re putting down?

It turns out that there’s a better way to tell the time in RDR2 without asking NPCs for their assistance, or opening the HUD.

Until now, many of us believed that the pocket watches we looted from the dead served no other purpose than being a means to make money.

However, they actually have a use beyond that. Who’d have thought it!

Simply take a pocket watch you’ve earned (dis)respectfully, then equip it like you would another item of clothing.

From thereon in, you’ll be able to check the time whenever you want... Up to a point.

It has no massive benefit save being more immersive, yet we’re grateful for learning about this new secret all the same.

For those who want to experience this firsthand, one Redditor has helpfully outlined how to equip and use your watch.

“Go to your satchel and to the ‘kit’ tab. The first on the page should be ‘watches’, then click on it and it shows either bought or stolen ones you have. Then it gives you the option to equip the one you want!” they explained.

Although convenient, you won’t be able to view the time this way while riding your horse.

You can also access your watch from the weapon wheel, as another fan pointed out.

If this blows your mind, just think about how detailed GTA VI will be... Assuming it lives up to all the hype, that is.
