Uncharted fans are divided over the prospect of the original trilogy getting a remake on modern PlayStation consoles.

The Uncharted series from Naughty Dog is arguably one of the best properties on the PlayStation brand. However, it feels like this beloved series has been abandoned in recent years in favour of the studio's other darling, The Last of Us.

Not taking into account the 2017 spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves Collection in 2022, the last mainline entry in the series was in 2016 with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and for a series of its importance, that’s way too long.

So that begs a couple of questions: Will we get a new Uncharted game anytime soon, and if so, will it be Uncharted 5 or a remake?

“Would you guys be interested in a remake of the Uncharted trilogy, and if so, how would you like Naughty Dog to approach the project?” asked Redditor DrowsyMonster95437.

“I certainly would. But I don’t know if Naughty Dog has any interest in doing it. Seems they’ve moved on (and that original creative team isn’t there anymore),” replied gperson2.

“I think I’d rather get a new game than a remake,” said K-mouse16.

“Why? Even Uncharted: Drake's Fortune still looks great and holds up well,” claimed JTS1992, referring to the game originally released on PlayStation 3 in 2007.

Speaking of which, you can play the original Uncharted trilogy remastered with improved visuals and controls, including Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in 2015’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

“It would be cool in theory, but it's very unnecessary, and also, I like how they look, the charm they give. I can't imagine them with an Uncharted 4 photo-realistic art style,” explained MohamadYasser07.

If you fancy playing the original trilogy on modern consoles, the aforementioned Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is only £7.99 at the time of writing on the PlayStation Store.

As for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, it’s included with a PS Plus Extra and Premium subscription.
