Uncharted 5 has fans torn, and we get it

Where’s Uncharted?

Naughty Dog fans are torn over the prospective Uncharted 5 and coming from someone that loves the series, I get it.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was first released on the PlayStation 3 in 2007, and despite having some janky gameplay moments, such as those insistent SIXAXIS motion controls when throwing grenades, fans were instantly won over by Naughty Dog’s new series.

In the years that followed, The Last of Us developer, Naughty Dog, fine-tuned the Uncharted formula with 2009’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and 2011’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception being considered amongst the best video games of all time.

The last mainline entry in the series to be released was Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on PlayStation 4 in 2016, followed by its standalone spin-off, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the following year. Both of those games were later re-released as a remastered bundle for PC and PlayStation 5.

As it stands right now, this console generation will be the first not to have a new Uncharted since its inception in 2007, and it feels like a reboot isn't on the cards, at least for the immediate future.

“Will there ever be another Uncharted game?” asked Redditor Sad_Entertainer_122.

“Naughty Dog has said it is done with the series, and all hints about its next two games effectively confirm this. Its next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and the game after that will probably be The Last of Us Part III,” suggested ChuckBrowning.

“Wow, you guys have really hit me with depression now,” exclaimed Sad_Entertainer_122. “As someone who enjoys history, Uncharted is amazing. Why can’t they just continue with Chloe?”

“Uncharted 4 left us on a cliffhanger, and I wanna see Nate’s daughter explore, but it might infringe on Lara Croft,” said SnooMuffins5160.

At the time of writing, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not have a release date, and The Last of Us Part III hasn't been officially announced.

As for a new Uncharted game, we can only hope for the best.
